Muriel Barbery was born in Casablanca, Morocco in 1969. She is the author of six novels, including the multi-million copy bestseller The Elegance of the Hedgehog. She has lived in Kyoto, Amsterdam, Paris and now lives in the French countryside. Her latest book published in the UK, A Single Rose, is a moving tale inspired by the author's nippon adventures on grief and blossoming love.
